Angelique

Luminous are the eyes that gaze
from beneath that cascade of hair,
Never was a maiden purer, more fair
than she to whom the world must look
for salvation.  When first I saw that light
from within her fragile form take flight
and caress, surround, enfold that darkness
that had threatened to consume all hope
I knew then my life was hers to lead;
The Queen by whom we would be freed.
